Shane McCarthy is a second-year MPP candidate from Newtown, Connecticut. He received a B.A. from American University where he studied international relations and economics, interned for then-Representative Chris Murphy and studied abroad in London and Belfast. After graduating Shane spent three years in the field of civic education, working with students from across the country to make their voices heard in DC. He has also lived in Guangzhou, China where he worked as a kindergarten teacher, freelance writer, and pub quiz host. At Georgetown Shane’s focus is on national security, foreign policy, and criminal & social justice.
